What's Twitter?



Twitter is a popular status update. It's like saying what you are doing on Facebook or MySpace.

Why does Early Birds have one?
It's a quick way to communicate. It can be especially useful if we have to change plans due to a race or course closure.

Is twitter free?
Absolutely

What's the Twitter account? Earlybirdies. http://twitter.com/ea... . Earlybirds was some group of runners in Australia or something like that. Wasn't available.

Can we post there? What's the password?
Here's the deal. We've set up a group twitter account via Grouptweet.com. Here's what you do. You sign up for twitter. You "follow" earlybirdies. Earlybirdies follows you. After you accept, when you send a direct message to earlybirdies, it is rebroadcast to the rest of us.

Why don't we all follow each other in Twitter? Cause you aren't interested in all the boardgames I play and everything else we might "tweet." This way, you only get disc golf related messages.

Why? Believe it or not, some of the folks who play with us don't have a computer. Most of them have a phone though.

A phone? That's right. You can set up twitter to notify you by text when certain accounts are updated. Do this on Twitter.com. Set up Earlybirdies so that mobile updates are turned on if you want to receive notices in your phone.

So what should we send to Earlybirdies? Well, definitely tell us about your ace. We'll use it when we have to move a Saturday round. You can use it like you do the "Who's playing Where?" forum too, especially if you are like batman waiting for the signal to tell you which course to play with some Earlybirds. :-)


What shouldn't we send? don't try to give away kittens through the service or update your score on every hole. Just keep it interesting for those of us addicted to disc golf and playing with the Earlybirds.

Anything else? Keep the messages short. It adds via and your username, so about 100 characters is all you get.
