I've decided to seed an ace pot for our meetup events. I'll start it with $100.
The Ace Pot is optional and pays out only for our meetup events, not for pre-rounds, after-rounds, or casual play.
How much is it to be in the ace pot? $2 for bag taggers, $3 for everyone else.
Everything is pretty much optional with our group. You don't have to be a PDGA member, you don't have to get a bag tag, you don't have to be in the ace pot, etc.
Since I'm paying the $100, I'm going to consider myself in the ace pot even though I won't be putting in $2 more each Saturday. When the contributions of others and some from myself reaches $100, I'll feel lucky my seed money didn't go out too early.
Why? We play a lot of disc golf on Saturdays and someday someone is going to hit an ace. It's going to be a lot more fun for them if they get some money.
What if I hit an ace outside of a meetup? Post it in the forums and we'll celebrate your joy. You won't be getting any of the ace pot money though.
You must pay your ace pot money before the round. You can't hit an ace, then say here's my $2, please give me the $100. It doesn't work that way.
What if the ace pot goes more than $100 before someone hits it? Then it can be worth even more than $100.
What happens to the ace pot if someone hits it? Then it goes to zero. I'm not made of money here.
It will start back up.
In effect since: 09/13
non-John contributions: $87
